LIVE

What is LIVE?

We want to support organisations to help their service users be active more regularly through attending weekly sessions at local leisure facilities and then being able to access the leisure centre independently.

Disabled people are often more likely to be at risk of certain health conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke and some cancers.

They are also more likely to be less active due to barriers such as knowing what is available to suit individual needs, accessing local facilities or having staff who are trained to deliver sessions to meet their individuals needs.

This is why it is really important that disabled people stay active and reduce the chances of being affected by these conditions.

As LIVE aims to support people to be active on a regular basis bookings are being taken for 31 weeks of sessions from the end of October 2016 until July 2017 (excluding school holidays).

How can LIVE support my users to be more active?

Current guidelines recommend:

  • Adults do 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each week
  • Young people do 60 minutes a day of moderate to vigorous activity

A one hour session with LIVE will give you over a third an adults weekly target and a child's daily requirement.

We have teamed up with Better leisure facilities to offer a number of different options that can support your users to be more active. LIVEsport, LIVEfit and LIVEhealth offer different types of activities which will suit different needs and interests. All of the activities are suitable for a wide range of abilities and our instructors are trained to adapt activities for a wide range of needs.

Choose from a one hour session or why not come for longer and try out more than one activity – you could do a sports session for the first hour then visit the gym for the second hour.

How do you LIVE?

LIVEsport offers users the opportunity to take part in fun and engaging sports sessions for any disabled person

LIVEhealth aims to help individuals become more aware of how they can lead a healthy lifestyle

Help your users be fitter and healthier by being more active with a session in the dance studio or gym
