On the 4th March, Community Club members, staff and PCubed runners all completed the inaugural Half Marathon raising £725.00
13.1 miles, 4 London Boroughs, 11,000 runners & 9 DSC members all completed the first ever Vitality Big Half in under 3 hours & 30 minutes on Sunday 4th March 2018.
The Vitality Big Half is part of a new one-day festival centred around the half marathon distance, which aims to be truly global and uniquely local in a celebration of the wonderful cultural diversity of the city of London.
After days of snow, the race went ahead as planned with our runners enjoying glorious sunshine from the start line, a start line that also saw GB athletes Sir Mo Farah & David Weir attempt to win the even't first gold medals.
A steady start saw #TeamDSC reach the 5 mile mark with bags of energy, despite Graham's sprint start! Alex & Abdul (being guided by Louis) then picked up the pace, as Wendy, Graham & Peter continued at a steady pace finding their running rhythm.
With rain starting to fall, hundreds of people across the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich cheered our team to the finish line as the aches and pains started to kick in.
Alex bound in 1st for #TeamDSC completing the 13.1 miles in 2 hours & 50 minutes, Abdul & Louis in 3 hours & 12 minutes, whilst Graham, Wendy & Peter did tremendously to finish within 3 hours & 30 minutes!
Special thanks for the 3 runners from PCubed, Constantine, Paul and Aiden, who completed The Big Half 2018 raising funds for our award-winning Community Clubs.
#TeamDSC raised a huge £725.00 towards the delivery of our Community Club programme but there is still time to support.
